Acts 9: 32 -43
Peter heals a paralyzed man bedridden for 8 years by stating / commanding in Jesus name – Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you, get up, make your bed. The people of Lydda saw the man and were converted to the Lord.
– The name of Jesus transcends time. It doesn’t matter how long I have been in a negative situation, the Lord has power to restore the situation.
– We have been given that power and authority to demonstrate the love of God to people by bringing them back to restoration in the name of Jesus. The situation, whatever it is, since it is all under creation, is under the command of Jesus. It will therefore have to respond to the name of Jesus.
– Am I / is the Church demonstrating the power of God by bringing restoration to others and having the testimony glorify the Lord so that – He can draw all people to Himself? ( John 12:32)
Arise and make your bed!
Possibly we can be empowered to deal with the situation that characterizes our problems. Just like – when Moses threw his rod down it turned to a snake and he run away from it, but when the Lord said that he pick it up he gained authority over the dangerous situation ( Exodus 4). We too are empowered by the Lord to take up the situation that represents our problems as we have been given all authority in Christ Jesus in the name of Jesus.
Tabitha / Dorcas – died and the people called for Peter. Peter : – Removed the mourners – the people projecting the negative aspect of what he wanted to declare for that situation.
For each situation we would like to change, we need to take the authority delegated to us by Jesus and declare what should be in line with Jesus and His Word . Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen. ( Hebrews 11:1 )
We need to change the law operating in the situation – from the law of sin and death to the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus ( Romans 8:2 ).
Once our faith is established for the situation we want to change / once God can see our faith and is pleased … It is impossible to please God without faith ( Hebrews 11:6) ….we need to pray over the situation – express our desire to the Lord for the situation, listen to His answer and comply with His answer.
Peter demonstrates to us one of the most effective ways to evangelize in the world – demonstrating the power of the Lord to others while pointing to Jesus. Our lives and the things we do should indeed be a living testimony of Jesus Christ that lifts His name up high so that He draws all people to Himself (John 12:32 – the power of the Cross reflecting the Love of God to others through us ) .
# Lord Jesus I repent of the missed opportunities that You have provided for me to demonstrate Your power so that there could be a testimony that would point people to You. I open up myself for the working of Your power in me and through me to be a blessing to others, all for Your glory. May the Holy Spirit continue to grow and develop His fruits in me so that I can share them with others. May the Holy Spirit activate His gifts in me so that I can be a blessing to others. May miracles signs and wonders accompany my preaching and my demonstration of Your Gospel to the people around me. May so much of Jesus reflect in me and from me that others are drawn to His power operating through me for His glory. Amen!
