Matthew 9:18-26
Synagogue leader’s dead daughter. Woman with the issue of blood.
Faith without works ( of faith – the action confirming that we indeed have faith) is dead ( James 2:17)
Synagogue leader comes and humbles himself before Jesus for his dead daughter’s sake. Faith act/works – >> Jesus please come and lay your hands on her and she will be resurrected. Jesus and His disciples got up and went with him.
Woman suffering for 12 years with constant bleeding came up and touched the fringe of Jesus garment – Faith act/works ->> I will be healed if I touch. ( possibly she believed the Scripture – the Messiah shall come with healing in His wings – Malachi 4:2 )
Jesus response to the lady – be encouraged, your faith has made you well and she was healed at that moment.
At the synagogue leader’s home. Jesus :
- – Removed the crowd
- – Declared a word in line with the truth of the Word and contrary to the situation
- – Responded to the request as per the faith of the father of the girl
–> we need to remove from our midst those professing things contrary to the Word of God / the mockers and possible be in the presence of those that profess things in line with the Word of God.
–> We need to take charge of the atmosphere by declaring the truth of the Word in the situation. She isn’t dead, only asleep. Know the truth and the Truth shall set you free ( John 8:32) Changing the operating law over the situation from the law of sin and death to the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus ( Romans 8 :2 ) Jesus has power over death and hell. We are asleep because death ushers us into eternal life and the earthly body will be resurrected ( Rev 1:18, John 11:25)
–> Jesus meets us at the point / level of our faith. He took the girl by the hand and she got up and this was as per requested by the father of the girl – please come and lay your hands on her and she will come back to life. The woman with the blood issue just believed that by touching Jesus garment she would be healed and she was healed.
Jesus is pouring out the spirit of life into young believers resurrecting their faith to do might miracles signs and wonders (Joel 2) and He is also healing the Jews / nation Israel that has been suffering for so long ( Jeremiah 30 :17)??
Do I limit God with my low level of faith?
Is my position in society ( education, power, status, wealth) limiting my miracles from the Lord due to my inability to humble myself before the Lord ( all are like filthy rags(Isaiah 64:6, Philippians 3:8)- I can’t but Jesus can)?
Can I humble myself at the feet of Jesus to seek a miracle for some dead area ( what the world has declared impossible) of my life — marriage, children, work, finances, health, spiritual life…?
Have I given up on a situation that has been draining my life or family for years and to me it has become the new normal — living in the negative situation and considering it normal contrary to the Word of God? — I wish that you would prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers ( 3 John 1:2) — The devil came to steal, kill and destroy and Jesus came that we may have life and life more abundantly (John 10:10 ).
Have I surrounded myself with the naysayers / non believers that are singing songs of death over my situation instead of believers who are strong in faith in Jesus that are singing songs of life over my situation?
Power of life and death is in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21) Do I prophesy death or Life into my own situations? ( Proverbs 13:3, 21:23)
We overcome by the Blood of the Lamb ( the finished work of the Cross) and the Word of our testimony ( our declaration of faith) in Christ Jesus ( Rev 12:11 ).
# Lord Jesus I repent of any fear, doubt or unbelief that has been ruling my life. Lord Jesus help my unbelief, uproot the spirit of fear and replace it with Your Spirit of Love, Power and a sound mind.
Lord Jesus empower me with Your Faith so that I may believe without wavering and not limit what You can do for me with my little faith… that my actions may correspond to my faith in You and Your finished work on the Cross, the Cross that took all my curses so that I may have all Your blessings.
I declare Your Word over my life and family that indeed… I shall prosper and be in health even as my soul prospers… By Your strips Lord Jesus me and my house have been healed from all sicknesses, diseases and infirmities, That You have broken all the curses over my life and family by being hung on the Cross for my sake… That the covenant of the Blood of the Lamb is the covenant in force over my life and family and it has negated all other evil covenants over my life and family… That the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus is the law operating in all situations over my life and family and that it has negated the law of sin and death. That indeed I shall overcome the enemy by the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of my testimony in Christ Jesus.
Lord Jesus increase my faith, give me Your Faith, grant my the Holy Spirit gift of faith so that Your power may work in me and through me to be a blessing to others in the performance of miracles signs and wonders, all to raise Your Name up high and for Your glory. Amen!
