LFM June 2019: Bloodline curse on Jacob? Mercy, Humility, Persistence & Faith – Lessons from Blind Bartimaeus.

Jacob living a life of bondage..being a grandson of Abraham??

Not only deceiving his brother
But also being deceived by his in-laws
His in-laws were idolaters

Possible source of generational curses that followed him from his mothers side

Even though he was a grandchild of Abraham
Possibly why he also needed to be born again, with a new name, so that the old things ( foundations) pass away and behold all things become new in Israel.
Lesson on why we may be saved but still in bondage until we deal with the foundation / ancestral / bloodline issues

John 3

Growing spiritually is a process. We should not expect instant growth but be willing to go through the process
Do I believe what I confess?…faith without works that demonstrate my faith is dead.
Believing is possessing in the realm of faith
The devil gets confused with our faith. When we declare what is not as though as it is!
Relationship is a two way street. When I call on God I expect Him to come, but when He calls on me, do I respond with the same urgency that I expect of Him?
Whatever we are anxious about, leave it at Jesus feet and spend that time worshiping God. He will pick it up for us as we spend time focusing on Him. Seek Him and His righteousness and all other things shall be added.
Good to gossip about Jesus? At least talking about Him always, the good He has done may lift Him up in others eyes so that He will draw all people to Himself.
Build an altar in your home. Church starts in the home, what I do in private and spills over into the corporate arena.

Matthew 18:1-4 – Humility of a little child

Humility of a child – Greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
– Depending on the father
– Expectant
– Trusting, not doubting
– Desires to learn, curious
– Accept changes

Greatness of humility

Accept things I cannot change, change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.
Acknowledge ones mistakes
Be ready to apologize
Know ones limitations

Psalm 127:1-2 – cannot build your life, character unless the Lord builds.

A father’s pleasure is to provide for their child
He will leave us to try on our own if we insist
But He desires the best for us.
God exalts the humble, bringing down the proud
May I humble to the Word at all times, in all circumstances

To be great in the kingdom of heaven…and to enter heaven

Blind and sitting beside the road as life passes one by

Ones life is stagnant, don’t know where to go, having no vision
Sitting besides the road was his custom.
…Where we are used to the problems we are in and see it as normal!
My people perish for lack of knowledge…Hosea 4:6
People go into captivity for lack of knowledge or understanding …Isaiah 5:13

Bartimaeus heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth passing by…

How do I behave when I hear that Jesus is passing by somewhere near me?
…possibly a church where I have heard miracles taking place
… possibly just hearing the Good News of the Gospel of Christ
… possibly just hearing of salvation and desiring to be saved

Being tired of my situation & humbling myself in front of Jesus

Am I tired enough of my situation that I may start shouting for mercy from Jesus?
Tired enough not to bother what others will say
Being persistent
Lack of pride, indeed being humble – not caring what the world will say.
… like a child, it will cry for what it wants till it gets it.
… lift Jesus up and He will lift you up, out of the situation you are in.
Pray without ceasing … 1 Thessalonians 5:17

The enduring mercy of God

Getting what I don’t deserve, the wages of sin
O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever….Psalm 136:1 (KJV)
Psalm 136 – as Psalm on the mercy of God that endures forever
The people did not have the required mercy for him but he persisted calling on the mercy of God
…even if father and mother forsake thee, the Lord will not …Psalm 27:10

When Jesus calls one, there is already victory…one should be expecting victory

All things are possible with Christ…Matthew 19:26
Am I ready when Jesus answers my call?
Do I take courage, get up, throw my cloak off and go towards Him?
… Removing fear, doubt and unbelief
… Ready to walk away from sin
… Walking in faith ..for I can’t please God without faith.. Hebrews 11:6
…removing / leaving behind (at least willing to) the old unnecessary burdens, identities and situations
… For His yoke is easy , His burden light..Matthew 11:30
… ready for behold old things have passed away, all things have become new in Christ Jesus …2 Corinthians 5:17

Do I know what I want Jesus to do for me?

Do I have the required faith to get ( take into my possession) what Jesus has for me?

When I get the (in)sight form Christ (revelation of & solution to the problem)

… do I follow Him after that or start following my own ways again?
But small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only a few find it…Matthew 7:14
it is narrow because …
Jesus is the (only) way, (to) the truth and the life…John 14:6
In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men…. John 1:4
“I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”…John 8:12

# Lord Jesus,

Have mercy on me,

Let me regain my sight,

And give me the strength, courage and grace to follow You.

Help by unbelief,

give me the required faith to take possession of my divine inheritance.

I thank You Lord for Your Amazing Love,

I thanks You Lord for Your Amazing Mercy,

I thank You Lord for Your Amazing Grace,

That You pour out upon my life each and every day.
